Mayor John Marks, III Board Member
John Robert Marks, III, Mayor of the City of Tallahassee, is the Partner-in-Charge of the Adorno & Yoss International Law Firm's Tallahassee Office. Mr. Marks' practice concentrates in the areas of regulated industries with a focus on public utilities, government relations, business and administrative law.
Previously, Mr. Marks served eight years on the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) and spent the later two years as Chairman, appointed in 1979 by Governor Bob Graham. He served on the FPSC during the divestiture of AT&T and was instrumental in the implementation of the Federal Public Utilities Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA). Before being appointed, he served as an Administrative Law Judge on the Commission.
Apart from his professional affiliations, Mr. Marks is on the Board of Directors of Fringe Benefits Management Company is a privately held financial services company. Among other civic activities, Mr. Marks is a graduate of Leadership Florida and serves on the Board of Directors for the Tallahassee/Leon County Civic Center Authority, and the Economic Club of Florida. Mr. Marks was elected First Vice President of The National League of Cities in June 2007.
Mr. Marks earned his J.D. degree from Florida State University Law School, and his B.S degree from Florida State University.
