Mr. William "Bill" Lamar, most recently SVP and Chief Marketing Officer for McDonald's USA, has held that position from August 2002 and is scheduled to retire in March 2008. In addition to national marketing for McDonald's nearly 14,000 U.S. restaurants, Mr. Lamar is also responsible for new product development, as well as, business research.
Mr. Lamar was among the McDonald's management team that developed and implemented the "Plan To Win," which led to the turnaround of McDonalds' business in 2003. Mr. Lamar led the effort to focus on unifying McDonald's' marketing strategy, which included the highly successful "I'm lovin' it" campaign. In addition to this appointment, Mr. Lamar serves as a Director for Children's Memorial Medical Center in Chicago, the National Caucus and Center on Black Aged, Inc. in Washington, D. C., the Ad Council and the University of Illinois Chicago Development Committee.
