Frank S. Jones - Board of Advisors Frank S. Jones is the Henry Ford Professor Emeritus of Urban Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who retired to Atlanta, Georgia in 1993. A native of Greensboro, NC, Mr. Jones was appointed to the first of three Ford Foundation endowed chairs in Urban Affairs at MIT in 1970, and throughout his professional career he dealt with the education and development of graduates in several academic environments – successively at Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, Harvard College, Harvard Business School, and MIT. Mr. Jones is a retired member of the Board of Directors of Polaroid Corporation, Capital Cities/ABC, Inc., Scientific Games Holdings Corporation, Burlington Industries, and CIGNA Corporation. Born into an academic family, Mr. Jones’ legacy prominently features his father, David Dallas Jones, who for 30 years served as President of Bennett College in Greensboro, NC – one of two colleges in the nation oriented primarily toward the higher education of African-American women. Mr. Jones describes the early exposure to the advancement of the “least of us” during his father’s tenure as one of his life-long guiding influences. |
